Russia has been ordered to close its San Francisco consulate and two trade missions in response to "unwarranted" Russian action, the US has said.

Chinese Foreign ministry condemns Britain over latest human rights report

China on Tuesday condemned Britain for interfering in its domestic affairs, in response to a human rights report, a day after the British government said Beijing had called off human rights talks.

Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying accused Britain of issuing the report with "irresponsible remarks made about the Chinese political system, rudely slandering and criticizing China's human rights situation."

La crise entre l'Egypte et la Turquie, née avec la destitution du président islamiste Mohamed Morsi et la répression de ses partisans, s'est aggravée samedi, Le Caire expulsant l'ambassadeur de Turquie en réduisant sa représentation diplomatique et Ankara appliquant la "réciprocité".

Il s'agit de la mesure diplomatique la plus drastique prise par l'Egypte face aux critiques qui se sont élevées à l'étranger contre la répression menée par les autorités installées par l'armée. Celle-ci a fait plus d'un millier de morts, en majorité des manifestants pro-Morsi, et conduit à plusieurs milliers d'arrestations.
Le Premier ministre turc Recep Tayip Erdogan, proche de la confrérie des Frères musulmans à laquelle appartient M. Morsi, avait qualifié sa destitution le 3 juillet par l'armée de "coup d'Etat". Depuis la dispersion le 14 août dans un bain de sang de manifestants pro-Morsi, il a multiplié les condamnations, évoquant un "très grave massacre" de manifestants "pacifiques".

Poutine-Abe: le Traité de paix russo-japonais au menu d'entretiens.

Le Traité de paix et les relations bilatérales russo-japonaises a été lundi au centre d'une rencontre du président russe Vladimir Poutine avec le premier ministre nippon Shinzo Abe à Bali, en Indonésie, a annoncé le porte-parole du président russe Dmitri Peskov.
"La formule japonaise "pas de vainqueur, pas de vaincu" serait la meilleure base philosophique  pour régler le problème du Traité de paix, les deux pays l'ont déjà reconnu au forum de Saint-Pétersbourg. Cette fois, les parties ont de nouveau confirmé que c'était la meilleure approche du problème. A présent, il faut trouver le moyen de l'appliquer", a indiqué le porte-parole devant les journalistes.
"La rencontre s'est déroulée dans une ambiance très positive, elle a permis d'évoquer un large éventail de questions bilatérales", a-t-il ajouté.

President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that Russia would not hand former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden over to the United States but that if Snowden wants to stay in Russia he "must stop his work aimed at harming our American partners." 

A source in the Russian immigration said Monday that Snowden has applied for political asylum in Russia.
Snowden "is not a Russian agent", Putin said, repeating that Russian intelligence services were not working with the fugitive American, who is believed to remain in the transit area at a Moscow airport eight days after arriving from Hong Kong. He said Snowden should choose his final destination and go there.

Media outlets in Turkey and Germany upped the severity of language of new reporting, amid rising tension between the countries that followed Berlin initiative to halt Turkey’s European Union bid.

The two have been in conflict since German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statements on the ongoing Gezi Protests, and the daily newspapers of both countries have decided to join in.

German Bild carried Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on its cover with the caption “New Dictator,” depicting Erdoğan with a Hitler-like moustache. The cover was then featured on the front page of Turkish daily Takvim, who itself dubbed Merkel a “Nazi.”
