Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Venizelos: We want substantial, not just rhetorical, acknowledgement of the sacrifices and great achievements of the Greek people.
JOURNALIST: What stance will you maintain with the troika from here on in?
E. VENIZELOS: On the margins of today’s Meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, and ahead of tomorrow’s meeting between the Greek government and the College of EU Commissioners, I am having a series of meetings in which my message – Greece’s message, the message of the Greek people and our government – is very, very clear: We want substantial, not just rhetorical, acknowledgement of the sacrifices and great achievements of the Greek people.

Schuldenkrise: Irland will seine Souveränität zurück...

Stournaras: Greece could have been like Egypt. Finance minister says default and euro exit would have made Greece like Egypt
'We would have been like Egypt if we went bankrupt and left the euro, as
some argued,' Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras said, after a meeting
with the troika that went into the early hours...
The finance minister has claimed that Greece would have shared the same fate as Egypt, where a military coup removed the democratically elected president on Wednesday, if it had defaulted and left the European common currency.

ERT survived the Nazis and the junta but not the troika ....

Derek Gatopoulos
The television and radio broadcasts
of ERT are indelibly etched into all Greeks' minds. This detailed
review of the history of the broadcaster by the Associated Press
explains why a country has stood up and resisted its sudden closure...
When Nazi troops marched into Greece's nearly deserted capital on 27
April 1941, radio announcer Kostas Stavropoulos of the Hellenic
Broadcasting Corporation announced the grim news. He urged his
countrymen and women not to listen to future Nazi radio transmissions
and signed off with the Greek national anthem.

Demonstranten an diesem kalten Februartag.

A redundant political class in Ireland
by Vincent Cooper*
Politics is dead in the Irish Republic. The Irish parliament, the Dail, is now little more than a rubber stamp for the Troika, the generic name for the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the European Union, the three powers to which the country is in hock.
Things are bad. Ireland’s debt to GDP ratio is set to reach 122 percent in 2013, above the 120 percent threshold the IMF considers unsustainable. The total debt of the country, according to an Irish Times report, is €192 billion, four times what it was in 2007, with a projected need to borrow a further €34 billion before 2015.
