Merkel warned against haste in the case of a British exit from the EU

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, speaking to reporters on 25 June, urged not to hurry with the beginning formal procedure of a British exit from the European Union.

She noted that although the UK should not always delay the announcement of official withdrawal from the EU, this procedure should take place in an atmosphere of constructive dialogue.
