No matter the outcome, ‘Scotland will never be the same again’
Just a day before Scotland votes on the most important decision to face the country in centuries, people in the capital Edinburgh, like the rest of the UK, await the outcome of the referendum with a tangible mix of hope, fear, and apprehension.
In the historic city’s bustling pubs and cafés, the talk is of little else. Local radio and TV coverage is blanket, and tabloid headlines scream from newsagent windows. Hardly a wall in the capital isn’t covered with the now iconic “yes” and “no” posters, and on each of the capital’s cobbled streets are enthusiastic campaigners brandishing placards for both the rival camps.

China accuses Britain of interference over Hong Kong
BEIJING: China on Wednesday accused London of
interfering in its internal affairs after British Deputy Prime Minister
Nick Clegg met two leading Hong Kong pro-democracy activists urging
greater freedoms from Beijing.
China "lodged solemn protests" with Britain over Tuesday's meetings with Martin Lee, founder of Hong Kong's opposition Democratic Party, and Anson Chan, the former number two in the city's government, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
"What Britain has done is interference in China's internal affairs. China strongly opposes it," said Beijing's foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei.
"Hong Kong's affairs fall within China's internal affairs. China firmly opposes any interference in Hong Kong affairs by any country under whatever pretext," said Hong.

Secret UK plan to "train 100,000 Syria rebels" exposed. (at bases in Turkey and Jordan)
A plan to train and equip a 100,000-strong rebel army to defeat
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was drawn up by Britain, then scrapped
as it was deemed too risky, BBC Newsnight reported on Thursday.
The alleged proposal, put forward two years ago, was the idea of General David Richards, then chief of Britain's defense, according to the BBC.
The secret "extract, equip, train" proposal was considered by Prime Minister David Cameron and the National Security Council, as well as U.S. officials, the BBC said, citing Whitehall sources.

Eurosceptic parties cause 'earthquake' at EU polls
BRUSELS: France's far-right National Front and Britain's UKIP led a eurosceptic "earthquake" in EU parliamentary polls, sending shockwaves across Europe and beyond.
The EU Parliament's own projections on Monday morning showed the extent of the anti-EU breakthrough, with eurosceptic parties set to win around 140 seats in the 751-seat assembly.
The most emphatic results from the four days of polling across the 28-nation bloc, which ended on Sunday, came on both sides of the British Channel.

Chinese Foreign ministry condemns Britain over latest human rights report
China on Tuesday condemned Britain for interfering in its domestic
affairs, in response to a human rights report, a day after the British
government said Beijing had called off human rights talks.
Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying accused Britain of issuing the report with "irresponsible remarks made about the Chinese political system, rudely slandering and criticizing China's human rights situation."

Russian Arms Supplies to Syria ‘No Breach of Law’ - Putin ..... one does not really need to back the people who not only kill their enemies, but open up their bodies and eat their intestines
LONDON, June 16 (RIA Novosti) – President Vladimir Putin on Sunday
defended Russia’s weapons supplies to Syria saying they are in the
framework of the international law.
“If we speak calmly, I want to stress that Russia supplies arms to
the legitimate government of Syria in full compliance with the norms of
international law and we call on our partners to act in the same way,”
Putin told reporters after talks with British Prime Minister David
Cameron on Sunday.
“We are not breaching any rules,” Putin said.
"I think you will not deny that one does not really need to back the
people who not only kill their enemies, but open up their bodies and
eat their intestines," Putin said referring to a video footage of a
rebel eating what appeared to be a government soldier’s heart.
