Russia rejects claim that IS group shot down aircraft

Russia’s Transport Minister on Saturday dismissed reports that the Islamic State group downed the Russian plane that crashed Saturday in the Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 people on board, saying the claims “can’t be considered accurate”.

Progress reached on Syria, meeting to be held in 15 days — (Fabius)

The participants of the Vienna meeting on Syria have reached progress on some issues, but there is no complete accord between them; the next meeting will take place in 15 days and the participants of talks will be the same, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Friday after discussions that lasted some eight hours.

Death toll from earthquake in northeastern Afghanistan rises to over 200

A major earthquake that struck the remote Afghan northeast this morning has killed more than 200 people in Afghanistan and nearby northern Pakistan, while sending shock waves as far as New Delhi in India, according to officials.
