The finance minister has claimed that Greece would have shared the same fate as Egypt, where a military coup removed the democratically elected president on Wednesday, if it had defaulted and left the European common currency.
"We would have been like Egypt if we went bankrupt and left of the euro, as some argued," Yannis Stournaras said, when asked to comment on recent developments in Egypt.
He was speaking at around 2.30am on Thursday morning, after a meeting with troika inspectors.
